Claire is 2011 Kildare Rose

Claire Walsh c/o Kildare Nationalist

The 2011 Kildare Rose is Claire Walsh, from Naas. According to the Kildare Nationalist, Claire might have feel a smidgin of pressure sic Claire, who was crowned 2011 Kildare Rose on Sunday night at the Kildare centre selection night, follows in the footsteps of the 2010 Kildare Rose Edel Kearney. The new Rose also has the added pressure in that the two previous International Roses of Tralee, Charmaine Kenny and Clare Kambamettu were from Kildare.

VSO update from Clare Kamambettu

Rose in India (India - Disability)
Clare, photo c/o VSO

A press release from VSO, the charity associated with the Rose of Tralee, relates the story of Clare Kambamettu's return visit to India.
It is a article worthy of your time. Here is an extract to lead you into Clare's report, “I have been to India many times but was really amazed at the level of work VSO are engaged in across India. I visited many programmes at grass roots level but still was able to see the amazing results achieved on the ground and the knock on effect this has in fighting poverty across India. It was really great to come back here with my Mam and Dad and see the other side to Indian life and the positive results organisations like VSO are achieving."

A man in uniform (again)

What is it about Roses and a man in a uniform? (see previous).

Above is pictured Dearbhla Toal, a Dunshaughlin lady, who has been chosen as the 2011 Meath Rose.

If we may quote from the article in the Meath Chronicle "Until now, I'd never even won a raffle, so I was shocked but humbled by my selection. I have always wanted to take part in the Rose of Tralee since I was a little girl as the competition stands for so much that is good about Ireland and Irish women. It was such a fantastic day and night and I was so glad to be able to share it with friends and family. I really look forward to the next 12 months and hope to do the people of Dunshaughlin and Meath proud as the Meath Rose".
