New York, by way of Longford

Annmarie Lynch.
Annmarie Lynch New York Rose c/o Longford Leader

Yes, the 2012 New York Rose is from Longford. The Longford Leader reports that Annmarie Lynch is having a fantastic festival. For the night itself she has chosen a dress from New York based designer Don O'Neill  - part of his Theia collection. By the way Don is a Kerryman from Ballyheigue. Visit his beautiful website here. Put that in your mouth and smoke it.

Apart from that Annmarie is planning to sing and play 'Dancing in the Dark' by Bruce Springsteen.

Lots more of this at the Longford Leader.

Edel Huges, 2012 Longford Rose certainly looks happy! We hope she does as well at the regionals in Portlaoise. Emily is a qualified doctor, so she can be taken seriously when she says “Physically I’m ready for it but psychologically I’m not so sure,” as quoted in the Longford Leader.

Sarah counts down to Regionals

Time is moving on and soon the Regional finals will be happening in Portlaoise, June to be exact. Sarah Keogh, the 2010 Longford Rose, has had a great time so far according to the Longford Leader. Since the Leader has published it, it is no secret that Sarah's party piece at the the Regional final will be poetry. In the Leader's words, "Sarah previously wowed the Longford Rose judges with a heartfelt poem she wrote about the devastating fire that engulfed St Mel's Cathedral on Christmas Day and she intends to recite this poem at the upcoming Regional Finals".

For more about Sarah's preparations, visit the Longford Leader.

Longford Rose Chosen

Sarah Keogh with 2009 Rose, Lisa Duffy

It's that time of the year when Rose centres are choosing their Roses for 2010. Sarah Keogh has been selected as the 2010 Longford Rose.

The Longford Leader has a very big article all about Sarah - read it here. In the meantime perhaps you would like some tasters from the article;

"I couldn't believe it – I didn't even hear my name being called out and next thing the girls all crowded around me so I guessed that I must have won".

"Sarah is passionate about horses. The 25-year-old spends her free time show jumping and taking part in cross country and dressage events with her local club Mosstown Stables. She also likes to lead an active lifestyle through swimming, cycling and walking".

I'm tired already.

Longford Well Represented

Former Longford Roses Grainne Fox and Ciara Kearney with Tommy Butler.
Although Longford had no Rose at the 2009 Final, the county had two of it's former Roses present. They were Ciara Kearney (2008) and Grainne Fox (2007). All of this information comes care of the Longford Leader. And of course Tomy Butler, from Longford was an Escort!
And if al of this is not enough, the Longford Leader goes on to detail many other Longford connections with the Rose of Tralee.
